Hydro Ottawa warns of suspicious sales calls

OTTAWA, March 26, 2010 — Several Hydro Ottawa customers have reported receiving suspicious phone calls from salespeople claiming to sell ‘hydro energy savers’ on behalf of the utility. Hydro Ottawa is not associated with this company, and does not endorse their products.

These salespeople, who identify themselves as members of the hydro maintenance department, claim their product will reduce home electricity consumption when plugged into an outlet. The product is sold for upwards of $100.

Hydro Ottawa encourages Ottawa residents to be cautious. Should you encounter someone selling electricity products and they claim to be from Hydro Ottawa, please ask for their identification and call us at 613-738-6400.
