Hydro Ottawa recognizes that the electricity we provide to our customers is an important service that allows them to go about their daily lives, and we take our responsibility to provide reliable service to our customers very seriously.
Despite the degree of sophistication reached in modern energy distribution systems, there remain many circumstances beyond the control of local electricity distributors that give rise to unexpected power interruptions and voltage variations. As outlined in the Hydro Ottawa’s Conditions of Service, Hydro Ottawa does not guarantee a constant power supply or assurance that voltages and frequency will be unvaried. Customers should consider purchasing under and or over voltage protection devices to protect their equipment such as surge protectors.
Customers may submit a claim either through their home or business insurance, or by sending a letter of claim to Hydro Ottawa. The letter of claim should describe the location and time of the occurrence, as well as the nature of the damage, and any copies of repair estimates or invoices related to the loss.
